Knowit's BlueGO is a Bluetooth framework designed for seamless communication, providing customers with a well-defined API that simplifies the complexity of Bluetooth technology and facilitates the interaction and coexistence between different Bluetooth profiles and devices. It abstracts the interfaces to the operating system and hardware, handling most of the lower-level design considerations and difficulties. As a result, application programmers and system designers do not need to be experts in all aspects of Bluetooth and can instead focus on business logic.

BlueGO supports advanced connectivity in cars, including hands-free telephony, phonebook and message synchronization, and media streaming. It also supports modern applications on the most popular smartphones available on the market, as well as scenarios that involve various connected consumer devices. Furthermore, these scenarios are implemented with compatibility in mind, accommodating older or less sophisticated devices.
A study conducted by J.D. Power in 2020 found that infotainment systems were a key factor in new car purchase decisions for many consumers! The study found that "the quality of the audio, connectivity, and navigation features provided by an infotainment system has become increasingly important to car buyers."
Entertainment: Infotainment systems provide a wide range of entertainment options, including music, videos, and games. This can help passengers stay entertained during long drives and make the driving experience more enjoyable.
Navigation: Infotainment systems often include navigation tools that can help drivers get to their destinations more easily and safely. These systems can provide turn-by-turn directions, real-time traffic updates, and other useful information.
Safety: Infotainment systems can also enhance safety by providing features such as rearview cameras, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warnings. These tools can help drivers stay aware of their surroundings and avoid accidents.
Connectivity: Many infotainment systems also provide connectivity features such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and smartphone integration. This allows drivers and passengers to stay connected to the internet, make phone calls, and send text messages without taking their hands off the wheel.
It’s safe to say that infotainment systems in cars have become essential features that provide a range of benefits to drivers and passengers.
The project of developing and devising a new infotainment system started in 2020 and continues to this day, involving a large number of subcontractors.
Knowit's team was assigned a dual task. Firstly, to license their in-house software, blueGo, for use as the primary Bluetooth solution in the new IVI system. Secondly, to develop and deliver the app for the Bluetooth-based telephony solution. The team, consisting of approximately 30 employees, successfully implemented hands-free telephony in the car and advanced syncing of phone contacts. They also created and rigorously tested various applications that communicate with a mobile app via blueGO, allowing users to access diagnostic data and GPS-based directions for driving, walking, public transportation, or biking.
In the solution, Knowit provided an updated infotainment system with enhanced possibilities for personalizing the user's experience. With the completed solution, users can make more adaptations and tailor their infotainment system to their liking. The system takes into account the driver's needs and habits, such as remembering their usual route to work, finding nearby parking spaces, playing their favorite music, and alerting them to traffic congestion. Users can choose from various views, and interact via voice commands or touchscreen.
The blueGo Bluetooth application framework empowers customers to effortlessly integrate the most frequently used Bluetooth functionalities (such as call and media streaming, phonebook and message synchronization, tethering, and more) into their systems.
We continuously test and update BlueGO to ensure device interoperability and compliance with the latest standards, while also striving to maintain compatibility with legacy devices. In addition, we offer an interoperability testing service to our customers. By addressing these issues, BlueGO effectively eliminates the problems and customer complaints commonly experienced by other product vendors.
Knowit also provides expert consulting services, support in the integration of BlueGO with customers’ systems, as well as troubleshooting of Bluetooth-related issues. Our consultants, located in Sweden and Poland, have a track record of successful cooperation with customers from all over the world.
